  1. E3+5  …………

Red uses Elephant Opening.

  1. …………  C8=5

Black counters with Left Central Cannon. As statistic, the most common use opening against Elephant Opening is C8=4 for Cross Palace Cannon opening.

  2. H8+7  H8+7    3. H2+3  …………

From Elephant Opening, Red transform to Screen Horses Defense, which is most effective to against Central Cannon.
If Red played C2=4, planning to transform to Sandwiched Horse variation, this is not so effective as Screen Horse Defense variation.

  3. …………  R9=8    4. R1=2  R8+6

Black R8+7 crosses the river to opponent's pawn rank might not ideal. As seen on board, Black's right flank has not developed yet. A better move would be P3+1 to develop his right flank for a balance formation.
